I have not found any other app with this type of problem. I am hesitant to upgrade my Laptop for fear it gets borked as well. I have even run 'restorecon' on the desktop unit to ensure it was not a selinux issue. The F37 OS versions are 6.2.86_64 on my Laptop and 6.2.86_64 on my Desktop. Since the /usr/bin/vlc actually works when invoked from a user's terminal, I know the executable is fine. Permissions are the same as for other similar apps. Both vlc.desktop files under /usr/share/applications/ are identical on both machines. I have checked invoking it from the terminal and it works. There is an app showing the correct icon in the applications menus. Now the GUI version will not start on my Desktop. VLC worked initially on both machines fine. I recently upgraded to F37 on my Laptop and my Desktop.
